Lanvin x H&M

Hey you all!

Big apologies for the huge delay in posts. I have been really busy at work, and settling university stuff and all. It's been incredibly great, how much I'm learning while interning at August Man magazine and meeting many people.

So anyway for those who have not heard, retail giant H&M has collaborated with one of the biggest fashion brands names in the world (Lanvin!) to come up with an affordable range of womenswear and menswear pieces yet having the intricate detailing and fantastic tailoring of the French fashion house.

For all those who don't know about Lanvin, this brand is responsible for many of the world's most beautiful dresses around, thanks to the vision of its creative director, Alber Elbaz. Its range of menswear is also a hit with many fashion editors and consumers too, for its edgy yet wearable pieces.

Here are some of the pieces of the Lanvin x H&M menswear range

Streetstyle Syndrome #2

Sorry for the lack of updates, been real busy at my internship with August Man magazine. Oh and for those who don't know, I'm a fashion intern there now!

So, here's the 2nd post of Streetstyle Syndrome!

For me, I tend to usually lean on more outerwear, like jackets, military coats, pea coats and so on. Having the right structured jacket, to me, really jazzes up any outfit.

Have a good week!

Clean lines maketh the man, A.P.C Fall Winter 2010

While heading down to the A.P.C store at Raffles Hotel to do pickups, I happened to chance upon A.P.C's Fall Winter 2010 Collection, and I have to say that I am really impressed by what they have to offer. For those who are looking for "investment pieces", or rather, pieces which can last you a long time and can be pared within many stuff, this is the brand to do for. Coats are well-tailored statement pieces, yet not too loud to be paired with other stuff, making it feel luxurious and clean. However, I would think it takes ALOT to pull off the green jumpsuit. I just don't really agree with the current trend of industrial workwear fashion as anyone who puts it on just looks like they came out of a factory. With that being said, I happened to chance upon a beautiful red cashmere sweater with brown elbow pads, but apparently it did not seem to appear on the store catalogue.

According to the store owner, not everything from the label is brought here due to reasons obvious-as-can-be (the weather!). So if you do want your dose of A.P.C, do head down to the store at Raffles Hotel, 2nd level. It's the same store as Front Row!

"Streetstyle Syndrome" #1

So this is gonna be my first streetstyle inspiration post! Henceforth, all other streetstyle posts will be titled as "Streetstyle Syndrome" (corny as it may sound). I do realise that many of the posts so far on the menswear blog have been about runways shows. And so, I am trying to diverse into as many things menswear-related as possible. So do look out for "Streetstyle Syndrome", abit of mens' shoe porn and so forth. I might even put up a few of my outfit posts, but that will be decided on later again.

So! On with "Streetstyle Syndrome" post 1:

I do have a soft spot for blazers, and I think that every guy should own a fitted blazer, preferably black or midnight blue in colour. It can take you from casual Friday outings with friends to wedding dinners. It can go with nearly anything, from fitted shorts to jeans, and the right pair of shoes.

Oh and on a sidenote, I just saw the pictures of Burberry's latest Spring Summer 11 womenswear show, and in that show included a few male models. And....I just came across the perfect leather jacket...

Christopher Bailey really outdid himself again, reinterpreting an old staple that catches on with the modern times. A leather jacket should be in any guy's wardrobe, just because it ups your style factor by x 235642467.

Biker boisterous, Burberry Prorsum SS 11

Burberry's FW10 menswear show was probably one of creative director Christopher Bailey's best yet, and it was the first time i notice how incredibly gorgeous his shearling jackets are. Damn right, I love those shearling jackets but you can't ever wear that in sunny Singapore.

For SS11, Burberry went into alot of leather, recreating the effect of the biker chic look. There were alot of leather jackets, leather vests and also studs, creating the heavy-metal-dude-riding-on-a-Harley look. Even military jackets were given the feel of biker treatment to complement the show. You can tell that this collection was full of energy given all the leather, sharp-looking shades and studs, almost reminiscent of the energy present at a Versace show.

Burberry's signature trenches are oft seen in parts of the show, but the only one I liked is the one shown in the second picture, cause I feel that the rest of the trench coats seem somewhat dull. I really, REAAAALLLY like the dark blue leather jacket on the 4th picture above though, it's just fucking perfect omgggggg. Anyone has about....$3000 to spare?

Accessories wise:

The studded leather bag is wooooooah, and the strappy leather gladiator sandals are also pure bliss. Not too sure about the canvas bag though, maybe it'll look better when it's out in stores?

On the whole, this collection was prolly one of the better ones I've seen for SS11 menswear. Goes to show that the perfect leather jacket will never go out of style!

Untitled

Hey guysssss.

Real sorry for the lack of updates for the past two weeks (there's a risk that I might be talking to thin air hear but I know that some of you secretly keep me on your tab =x). Been busy with work, interviews, and helping my family do stuff.

Anyway the latest news so far is that I am working at DFS Galleria, at the perfume counter promoting the latest Givenchy fragrances. And yes, I AM donning a real, authentic bowl cut now so please do come and look for me if you're interested in Givenchy fragrances.

Anyhow, do watch out for future updates here! I promise more trendspotting, more Spring/Summer 2011 menswear coverage from my perspective, and more! Please, if you are reading this, do feel free to leave a comment on what you would like to read about, or if you're playing the shy guy, email me at jerome@trooops.com!

....and that's it! I'm having a fever now so goodnight!

style icon alert, Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Yes, he's the one who played Arthur in the latest Christopher Nolan flick, inception. And you may also remember seeing him as the male lead in (500) Days of Summer. I present to you...

Joseph Gordon Levitt

I first noticed this guy when he played the ultra cool, slicked-backed-hair Arthur in Inception, and I began to notice that he really had this effortlessly cool debonair about him. Remember the scene in Inception where his character initiated a kiss with Ellen Page's character while people were staring at them and he said, "it was worth a shot"? That was pure class.

So anyway, Esquire magazine recently did a feature on him, styling him with cleverly-tailored suits from Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein and Prada. And shoes by Berluti (which are horribly expensive, about 2.5 - 3k a pair in Singapore).

Some of the shots in Esquire...

Immaculate and laid-back cool, don't you think?
